my stepchildren are horrible and are threatening us with legal action. can they do this and what can i do?
i am at my wits end with my stepdaughter and stepson. my wonderful husbands children from his first marriage, a mistake if there ever was one. they are both 16 and they are ruining our life and threatening to get us into hot water with the law, and i am wondering if they can do this? we have them on weekends and during summer, spring and winter breaks from their school. they are wild children, unmannerly, immodest, they do not bend to our will or respect us and they have horrible habits and ideas they have been taught by their mother. i am concerned they are rubbing off on our children. we train our children to be godly, modest, and obediant, we are very conservative and a Christ centered home, and these two hooligans are exactly everything that we are against. stepdaughter is a very bad but charismatic child with the tongue of S—n. the brother and sister will lie for each other, go on hunger strikes if they wish to go back to their mother, refuse to speak english so we cannot understand what they say, sneak out even when we have put locks on the outside of their doors, they wear horrible, immodest clothing, they disrupt when they are made to go to church and will not submit to their father or the Minister. no matter how much we pray over them, punish them, discipline them with whipping and spanking, even confinement has not helped. my stepdaughter refuses to wear the skirts and dresses we paid money for her to have while she is with us and burned them, she is good looking and uses that and her clothing to be very provocative toward young men. i do not want her in my house any more! but my husband says she stays, and he believes it is still possible to win his children’s souls to Christ. they have been seduced by the secular world and their hippie mother, who lets those two children run wild and now that is the only thing they will respond to, is her hippie touchy feely parenting, and they are by all acounts angels everywhere but our home.
the pair is now threatning us with they claim their father has no right to spank them or switch them, the girl specifically, and that it is sexually inappropriate to make her lean across a bed to be spanked bare. she refuses to display a joyful and submissive spirit even when she is reprimanded, and she has further turned her back from Christ as she has announced that she and her brother wish to take legal action against us for their car in addition, citing that it is paid for with their money and under their mother’s name for insurance. we do not believe that young women should drive, or grown women if their husband does not condone it, because it leads them to other temptations which this child has more than enough fo already, and we have removed it from her. she has no right to it and no right to tell us we cannot discipline her or work her over with even a sharp reminder of her need to submit. it is my deepest worry that some wackadoodle liberal judge will do as many have and side with her, and we may lose our other children.
can they do this? how can we win her spirit back to us and keep her from straying again, while still protecting the virtue and hold of our other childrens’ hearts?
Whipping (are you serious?) and spanking… yeah that’s assault nowadays, (we are not in the dark ages any more) If they where 15 it would be child abuse!
If they are that bad just don’t have them in your home!
Yes at NOBODY has a right to pull the daughters pants down and physically abuse anyone. That can be portrayed as sexual assault!

Did you never think of doing some fun family things and days out TOGETHER as a family (and I don’t mean forcing a religion on them on Sundays (which is also abuse in my view)) Then at least, they would have some thing to miss about you when decided to not have them one week.

In most states spanking and "switching" a child of any age is illegal. At 16 they are both too old for corporal punishment. While not necessarily sexually inappropriate to spank the step daughter’s bare buttocks while leaning over a bed. It’s just flat out wrong.
Being so over the top fundamental religious may be ok for you… your way of "helping" these children is dong the exact opposite.
